Biography
Susan discovered the power of art in the early 2000's after attending a few evening classes while working full time at Carleton University Library. Beginning with watercolour, she began exploring the use of acrylics for its flexibility, texture and multiple layering qualities. She now considers herself a self-taught acrylic artist constantly honing her skills by creating and learning from others.
As an outdoor enthusiast, Susan likes observing nature in her own back yard garden, rambling through Ontario's provincial parks, enjoying sunsets, and paddling rivers and lakes in her kayak where she draws inspiration for her outdoor life and floral works. She loves capturing seasonal landscape imagery, working with bright colours and exploring the moods they invoke.
Susan is a member of ARTEAST Ottawa and the Ottawa Art Association. She has worked on several commissioned paintings and is a regular participant of the Carleton Community Biennial art show sponsored by CUAG, and looks forward to retirement from academia in the near future so she can paint every day
